Dear Honorable Senator ________,
I am an amateur radio operator and am writing to request your support of Senate Bill SB0365 as amended by SA0120.
On March 31, 2003 the House unanimously (97/0) passed the companion bill, HB1010 as Amended. On Tuesday, April 8, 2003 the Senate’s State and Local Government Committee unanimously (9/0) passed the Senate amended version (SB0365 and SA0120).
SB0365/SA0120 assures that Tennessee state law reflects the federal rules regarding antenna restrictions. Thus, any local county, city or other municipal government writing ordinances related to antenna placement, screening or heights may be made aware that there is
such a federal rule. These entities may then use that rule as a guide without specific or additional restrictions being placed upon them.
After the recent heroic efforts of amateurs across the sate in the November 10, 2002 tornadoes, I’m certain you are already aware of the many benefits good communications ability can provide to the citizens of Tennessee in times of natural or other disasters. All of our time, equipment, and effort during such times, often including lost vacation time from regular jobs, is gladly donated by amateur radio volunteers. It is completely free.
Please help us to always be able to provide the best communications possible when we are needed. We would appreciate you signing on as a sponsor. However, even if you do not wish to help sponsor this bill as amended, please vote FOR SB0365/SA0120. Thank you.
